Figma to Shopify

Your Figma file, built as a real Shopify theme.

We hand-code Figma designs into production Shopify themes — pixel-accurate, responsive, and fast enough to pass Core Web Vitals. Most single-page conversions ship in 5–7 working days. Full stores, 3–5 weeks.

What this actually is

Hand-coded Liquid, not an export.

A Figma-to-Shopify conversion means taking a finished design file and building it as a working Shopify theme — Liquid templates, theme sections, schema settings, responsive breakpoints, and the merchandising logic behind them.

The distinction that matters: we write the Liquid by hand. Plugin exporters generate markup from Figma layers, which produces something that looks right in a screenshot and falls apart the moment a product title runs long, a collection has eleven items instead of four, or someone opens it on a mid-range Android.

When you don’t need us: if your design is close to a theme you already own and the changes are colour, type and section order, a theme customization is cheaper and faster. We’ll tell you that on the call.

When you do: when the design has custom layouts, interactions, or merchandising rules no existing theme supports — and you need a store owner to be able to edit it afterwards without touching code.

The comparison nobody publishes

Four ways to get a Figma design onto Shopify.

Every agency page on this topic tells you to hire an agency. Here is the honest version, including the cases where you shouldn’t hire one.

Approach Typical cost Timeline Best for Where it breaks
Figma export plugin
(Instant, Foxify, DhiWise)
$0–$99/mo Hours Landing pages, campaign pages, quick tests Generated markup bloats the DOM; edge cases and dynamic content break; store owners can’t edit it safely
Theme customization $800–$3,000 1–2 weeks Designs that are close to an existing theme You end up fighting the theme’s structure once the design diverges more than about 30%
Freelancer $500–$3,000 Varies widely Single templates, tight budgets No QA layer, no handover documentation, and no one to call in six months
Hand-coded conversion Fixed, per scope 5 days – 5 weeks Full stores, custom sections, brands that will keep editing the site Overkill if your design is a light reskin of Dawn

Cost ranges reflect what we see quoted across the market, not our own pricing.

Process

How a file becomes a theme.

01

Design audit

We open your Figma file and check it against Shopify’s realities — variant logic, cart behaviour, collection states, empty states. You get a written list of anything that will need a decision before we build.

02

Scope and quote

Template count, custom sections, apps and integrations. Fixed price, fixed timeline. No hourly drift.

03

Build

Hand-written Liquid, Shopify 2.0 section architecture, JSON templates. Every section gets schema settings so your team can edit it later without a developer.

04

Responsive pass

Built mobile-first against real devices, not just browser resize. Over 70% of Shopify traffic is mobile — it is the primary layout, not the afterthought.

05

Speed and QA

Image formats, lazy loading, script deferral, Core Web Vitals. Cross-browser checks, long product titles, sold-out states, edge cases.

06

Handover

A walkthrough of every editable section, documentation, and 30 days of post-launch support for anything that surfaces after go-live.

Formats

Not just Figma.

We build from whatever your designer actually works in — Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, PSD, Canva, and flat PDF or image exports where that’s all that exists.

Figma is the easiest to work from because we can inspect spacing, type scales and component variants directly. If you’re commissioning a design specifically to be built on Shopify, ask for it in Figma with components and auto-layout — it will save you money at the build stage.

No design file at all? That’s a design project first, not a conversion. We’d rather tell you that than quote you for a conversion and hand back something that was never designed properly.

Pricing

How we price it.

Fixed price per scope, agreed in writing before anything starts. No hourly billing on conversion work — hourly rewards slow builds, and you deserve to know the number before you commit.

What moves the price: how many templates, how many genuinely custom sections, whether apps or integrations are involved, and how many decisions the design file leaves open. Send the Figma link and you get a real number, not a range.

Market context, so you can sanity-check any quote: across the agencies currently advertising this service, single pages run roughly $400–$1,000 and full stores $3,000–$15,000. Anything dramatically below that is either a template swap or a plugin export sold as custom work.

Questions

Answers, including the awkward ones.

Can I convert a Figma design to Shopify myself?

Partly. Plugins like Instant, Foxify and DhiWise will generate a page from Figma layers, and for a landing page that is genuinely enough. What they don’t produce is a maintainable theme: the markup is verbose, dynamic content and edge cases break, and your team can’t safely edit it later. If the output needs to survive a year of merchandising changes, it needs to be hand-built.

How much does Figma to Shopify conversion cost?

Across the market, single pages run roughly $400 to $1,000 and full stores $3,000 to $15,000 depending on custom sections and integrations. Ours is fixed per scope, quoted in writing before work begins.

How long does it take?

A single page or template: 5 to 7 working days. A core store: 2 to 3 weeks. A full custom build with app integrations: 3 to 5 weeks. The variable that moves timelines most is not our build speed, it’s how many decisions the design file leaves open.

Will the store be responsive?

Yes, and built mobile-first rather than desktop-then-squashed. Most Shopify traffic is mobile, so the mobile layout is designed and tested first on real devices.

Is the code SEO-friendly?

Semantic HTML, one H1 per template, proper heading hierarchy, image alt attributes wired to Shopify’s alt fields, clean canonical and structured data, and Core Web Vitals as a build requirement rather than a later fix.

Will I own the code?

Yes. You get the full theme, unencrypted, in your own Shopify account. No licence, no lock-in, no dependency on us to make changes afterwards.

Do you offer white-label work for agencies?

Yes. We build under your agency’s name, deliver into your client’s store, and stay off the call if that’s how you prefer to run it.

What formats do you accept besides Figma?

Adobe XD, Sketch, PSD, Canva, and flat PDF or image exports. Figma is the most efficient to work from because component and spacing data is inspectable.

Does Shopify import Figma designs directly?

No. Shopify has no native Figma import. Anything that claims to do it is a third-party plugin generating markup from your layers, which is a different thing from a theme.

What happens after launch?

Thirty days of support for anything that surfaces post-launch, plus a documented walkthrough of every editable section so your team isn’t dependent on a developer for routine changes.

Send us the file.

Share your Figma link and we’ll come back with a written scope, a fixed price and a delivery date — plus an honest note if a cheaper route would do the job.
